[Class 81 (ii).] Apparatus for treating defects of vision comprises a base 10 carrying a pillar 13 to which is pivoted at 18 an L bracket 19 carrying a pair of lenses 27 and stereoscopic pictures 57, to be viewed therethrough. The lenses 27 are carried by plates 26 slidable in guides 25 which are formed by bending over the edges of a plate 24 secured to anglebrackets 21 on the bracket 19. Lateral adjustments of the plates 26 is effected by a screw 28 working in blocks 29 on the plates and the amount thereof is indicated by a pointer 31 on one block in conjunction with a scale on the other block. The pictures 57 are illuminated by a lamp 16 mounted on a separate pillar 12 and are supported in plate carriers 49 rotatably mounted at 50 on plates 48, the rotation being effected by worm gearing actuated by a knurled wheel 59, and being indicated on a scale 61 by a pointer 60. The plates 48 are so mounted, by turning over their edges, as to slide vertically on plates 47 which are themselves adjustable laterally. The vertical adjustment is effected by screws 51 and indicated on a scale 53. The lateral adjustment is effected by a screw 43 passing through a block 40 on the bracket 19 and through blocks 45 carrying the plates 47. Guide rods 44 passing through all three blocks are provided. The lateral adjustment is indicated by a pointer and scale 54. The apparatus is also provided with an adjustable chin rest 14 mounted on a separate pillar 11, a forehead rest 37 and a septum 39 secured to the bracket 19, and with prisms 34 mounted on frames pivoted to the outer corners of the plates 26 and having springs 35 which retain the prisms in position behind the lenses or in a downwardly swung position when not required.
