Abstract
336,482. Camerota, L. A. Nov. 26, 1929. Reciprocating - mixers. -A machine for mixing and aerating moulding sand or other materials comprises a table 1 reciprocated, by a reversible motor 20, below supply hoppers 2 and cutting wheels 7, 8 of known construction on a rocking beam 11. When the table is moved to the right the wheel 7 is rotated by an electric motor 14 in the direction indicated, the blades 10, Fig. 3, being arranged to throw the sand in front of the wheel and towards the centre line of the table. When the movement of the table is reversed an hydraulic piston 12 raises the wheel 7 and lowers the wheel 8 which is rotated, by a second motor 14, instead of the wheel 7. Guard plates 17, 29, Fig. 1, are provided and ploughs 30 keep the sand in the required position until sufficiently mixed when it is removed to a pit 25 by an inclined blade or a driven screw 4 lowered on to the table by a pneumatic hoist 28, Fig. 5. The sand is removed from the pit to the place required by a conveyer 26. In a modification the mixing blades 10 are arranged to throw the sand off the table or a belt, scraper, &c. may be used for this purpose. In another modification the sand is conveyed to the place required by the table 1.
