Supply and power meters.-In a wattless component measuring instrument of the induction type, the current coil 4 is shunted by a resistance 5, and the voltage coil CF is tapped at a point D which is connected to a resistance R', a variable resistance R<2> being connected to the end C of the coil and a resistance R<1> being included in the common circuit of the resistances R<2>, R<3>. By varying the resistance R<2>, the phase difference between the current and voltage fluxes may be adjusted without altering their magnitudes. Either or both of the resistances R<2>, R<3> may be adjustable. The regulating resistance may be a pure ohmic resistance, a choking coil, or a condenser in combination with a resistance or a choking-coil. The arrangement may be employed with single or polyphase integrating meters, or with induction wattmeters for measuring the wattless component of the apparent power.
