Abstract
614,952. Measuring temperature electrically. LE MAY, C. A. G., and HALSTEAD, P. E. June 26, 1946, No. 19044. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In an electric thermometer a low resistance element 12 is connected to the secondary winding of a step-down transformer 5 and current fed through the primary 7 from a power transformer 1 is rectified and fed to one arm of a differential meter 11. The second arm of this meter is supplied through a further rectifier 10 and a compensating resistance 9 from the same transformer 1. The variation of the resistance 12 with temperature is reflected in the current change in the winding 7 and is indicated in the reading of the meter 11. The resistance 9 is preferably made to have the same variation with temperature as the transformer 5.
