Abstract
333,795. Verstijnen, C. F. M. Oct. 9, 1929. Reeling-machines; skein holders and swifts.- In reels for artificial silk &c. where one or more thread-supporting bars are normally resiliently maintained in the outer position, spiral springs are contained in sleeves to which the bars are secured and which fit round radial arms, and the sleeves are interconnected by a cross member constituting a handle for moving the bar or bars, thus allowing the hanks or skeins readily to be taken off the reel. In the form illustrated, four bars are fixed on arms 3, Fig. 1, and two bars 5 have sleeves 6 fitting the ends of arms 4, pairs of sleeves being joined by members 7 shaped suitably for grasping by hand. The stroke of the spiral springs 8, Fig. 2, is limited by a slot 9, Fig. 1, and a pin 10. In an alternative form two bars are fixed, and each sleeve carries a cross-piece which holds a bar at each end.
