Abstract
333,529. Brooke Bond, India, Ltd., and Wood, C. May 13, 1929. Moving-chamber apparatus.- Tea from a hopper 9 is measured in chambers 6 situated at the ends of arms 1<a> carried by an oscillating shaft 2. Upper and lower face plates 3, 4 contain admission and discharge openings 10, 13, the adjacent edges of which are separated by a horizontal distance greater than the diameter of the chamber 6. A tail-piece 11 closes the admission opening 10 as the chamber moves from its filling position. Filling and discharge take place in the extreme positions when the movement is least. The capacity of the chamber may be varied by a screw 17, and a slide 19 may be inserted when measuring is to be discontinued. Each measuring chamber delivers to a series of funnels arranged on oppositely rotating heads; these are supplied with bags which, after filling, are removed by a belt conveyer as described in Specification 333,528, [Class 94 (i), Packing &c.].
