Abstract
330,558. Dowsing, H. J., Steele, r. M., Slark, C. W., and Melsom, A. L. March 6, 1929. Heating by electricity. - When the water in the vessel, which may be adapted for sterilizing, falls below a predetermined level the float k closes a circuit comprising the resistance 5, contacts n, v, and the magnetic circuit breaker 4 with consequent operation of a trip switch to open all the circuits. The movable contact n is a soft iron bar surrounded bv a hold-on coil o and the fixed contact is surrounded by a soft iron ring w. The coil is energized when the contacts meet to prevent separation until the circuit is broken. The heating elements b - - e, are mounted under the sterilizing chamber and are connected through a series-parallel switch 7. A tell-tale lamp 6 may be provided. The float and part of the electrical equipment connected therewith are in chambers separate from one another and from the sterilizing chamber. The resistance 5 is arranged under the sterilizing chamber.
