330,091. Stephens, F. C. April 30, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Glands; bushes; packing, metallic.-In a stuffing-box, which is especially applicable for the fuel valve of a Diesel engine, lead wool, or other packing 5, contained in the tapered bore of the gland 2, is compressed by a sleeve 3, fitting the bore of the stuffing box and having a tapered end projecting into the bore of the gland. The end of the sleeve may be formed with a groove 8. The end 7 of the bore in the gland is cylindrical, and a ring 4 fitting the spindle forms an abutment for the packing.
