Abstract

325,532. Cooper, A. J. Nov. 14, 1928. Lids.-The pivoted bail carrying handle of a tin or like container is provided with means adapted to engage and raise the lid on the handle being depressed. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a lever 17, disposed between the handle and the wall of the tin, is mounted on one of the pivots 15 and has a cam-surface 18 adapted to rise and engage under the lid flange 12 when the lug 19 is depressed by turning the handle from the dotted into the full position. The lever and cam surface may also be formed integral with the handle as shown in Fig. 2. The invention is stated to be applicable to all forms of lids, and the opening means may be provided at both ends of the handle. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5518/96, [Class 125, Stoppering &c.], and 22055/98.
