Stuffing-boxes, substitutes for.-A centrifugal atomizer more particularly for spraying sulphuric acid is provided with a multiple liquid seal surrounding the spindle through which liquid is fed to the atomizing tray. Mounted on a cover l carrying a deflector ring k is a cup in into which liquid is fed and carrying a tube p surrounding the atomizer spindle a. The tube p is covered at its upper end by a bell o attached to the spindle and is immersed at its lower end in the hollow c of the atomizing tray. A number of partitions divide the cup m into sections and prevent rotation of the liquid therein. A second cup r mounted below the cup m communicates with the tube p through holes t and is fed through pipes s mounted in each section of the cup m. The parts in contact with acid are lead coated.
