Abstract
317,295. Rebikoff, W. Aug. 11, 1928. [Convention date]. Motors, gearing for.-In an arrangement for driving a gramophone, such as described in Specification 296,975, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.], wherein a turntable spindle is driven through epicyclic gear from a spring motor and an electric motor alternatively, the spring motor being held inoperative when the electric motor is driving, the provision for holding the spring motor inoperative is dispensed with and the electric motor when driving serves to wind up the spring motor and maintain it in this state. The arangement is stated to facilitate uniform driving of the turntable spindle. As in Specification 296,975, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.], the turntable spindle P regulated by a governor R is geared with the casing M, N of an epicyclic gear comprising a pair of double wheels K, L mounted in the casing, the wheels K being connected through gears E, C, C<1>, B with the spring motor A, and the wheels L with a gear F on a sleeve H which is mounted on the shaft D of the gears E, C and driven by non-reversible worm gear G, L from an electric motor W. No provision is, however, made in the present arrangement for holding the shaft when the electric motor is driving, and this is wound up and maintained in this state throughout, tending to compensate for iregularities in the electric drive.
