Electric clocks; driving - mechanism; stop mechanism.-In time indicators such as clocks and stop watches of the kind in which a member is rotated at constant speed by means such as a " phonic " motor, a second member is arranged to engage and rotate with the first member and to indicate time or intervals of time, and is instantly stopped when disengaged from the first member. Fig. 1 shows a diagrammatic arrangement in which 1 represents a " phonic " motor of constant speed, 2 the gearing of the dial or second member mounted on a spring or reed 3 to enable it to be engaged with or disengaged from the motor. The engaging and disengaging means may be mechanical or electrical; in the latter case an electromagnet 4 may be employed, the spring 3 constituting its armature. A brake 5 is provided for instantly arresting the rotation of the dial gear when disengaged from the motor.
