Abstract
316,690. Baker, F. W. W., and Green, C. E. May 8, 1928. Synchronous movements; copying- telegraphs. - Apparatus for synchronizing the cylinder or carrier 11 of a copying- telegraph receiver comprises a revolving driving- member 15, a pivoted lever 17 for coupling at will the cylinder to the driving - member and means for controlling the pivoted lever in order that the cylinder may be started in phase. The lever is mounted on the cylinder and has a detent 19 which engages ratchet teeth on the driving- wheel 15. The driving grip is released by an electromagnetically operated clutch 23 which is moved into the path of the lever to co-operate with a cam portion 21 to free the lever from the driving-wheel against the action of a return spring 20. A stop 22 on the lever engages the catch to stop the cylinder after the driving-grip has been released. According to a modification, a friction drive may be used. Specification 310,345, [Class 57, Governors &c.], is referred to.
