Abstract

315,934. Kirk, H. May 5, 1928. Jointing tubes to headers.-In tube radiators for motor vehicles &c., the ends of the tubes 8 are resiliently mounted on the header plates 7 by means of a rubber ring 13 which is positioned within a bush 10 in the form of a hollow threaded plug, slightly tapered as shown in Fig. 2, adapted to screw into a hole in the header plate. The ring 13 is received in a circumferential groove 12 in the bush 10, while the latter is formed with a hexagonal head 11 to receive a spanner. In modifications, the rubber rings are each housed in a groove formed partly in the header or end plate 15, Figs. 3 and 4, and partly in a companion plate 16, or between two companion plates 19, Fig. 5, secured to the header.
