Abstract

313,394. Blair, P. C., and Templeton, D. K. Oct. 29, 1928. Angular bending; formers.-A machine for bending metal strips, particularly for forming brackets for eaves, gutters, or rain water pipes, of the type consisting of a fixed former to which one end of the strip is clamped and a pressure member or roller adjustably carried by a lever pivoted on the axis of the former, has a member fixed to the former for limiting the stroke of the pressure member and thereby offsetting the free end of the strip from the curved portion thereof. The strip 6 is clamped to the former 5 by a serrated jaw 7 pivoted at 8 and operated by a weight 10 or spring. The bending roller 11 is connected by slotted slides 15 so as to be adjustable in slots 14 in a forked lever 12 pivoted at 13. During insertion of the work the lever rests on a stop 18 and is then traversed over the former to bend the strip, finally co-operating with an adjustable L-shaped stop 19 to form the straight portion 6a on the end of the strip. Packing strips 21 may be placed on the former to suit the radius of curvature.'
