Abstract

313,350. Kishida, K. July 20, 1928. Ornamenting.-In a process for providing glass bottles with patterns, a transparent flexible fi1m of viscose, ge1atine, cellulose acetate, celluloid, &c., bearing patterns, is inserted in the bottle, and is either stuck to the bott1e wall with a suitab1e paste, or is held pressed against the wall by the f1exibi1ity and elasticity of the film, the patterns being insoluble in the liquid intended to be contained in the bottle. The patterns may be produced by printing, drawing, dyeing, photography, or by pasting on decorative material. In the case of a bottle for containing alcohol or a fatty 1iquid, a viscose fi1m is emp1oyed, and a water-so1ub1e paste, such as ge1atine, casein, and gum arabic, is poured into the bottle. The excess of paste is then poured out, and the film is adjusted in position by means of a bent rod, and is dried. In the case of a bottle for containing water. the paste may consist of an alcoholic solution of celluloid, cellulose acetate, &c., or a water-so1ub1e paste may be used, and the fi1m covered with waterproof paint, or the paste waterproofed with formalin. If a paste is not used, the patterns may be protected with insoluble paint, or a second fi1m, without patterns, may be placed over them.
