Abstract
Silver dragees are provided with a transparent waterproof coating prior to the application of an aqueous solution of colouring material. Preferably, the waterproof coating is of shellac. The aqueous solution of colouring material may contain some sugar and/or gum. The dragees are coated with shellac by placing them in a container with a small quantity of shellac dissolved in a volatile solvent, e.g. alcohol, and mixing them until all the solution has been used up. The dragees are then dried on a tray in a current of air. The coating of an aqueous solution of colouring matter is applied similarly. A further protective coating, e.g. of shellac mixed with beeswax, is preferably applied on top of the coloured coating.
