Pianofortes, framing, soundboards, and wrestplanks for. - In a horizontal pianoforte having two metal frames between which the soundboard with its fillets is secured, the lower (supplementary) frame 2 shown in Fig. 1 is similar to the main frame 1, Fig. 2, in general shape but is preferably shorter in front, terminating in a plate i to which a " belly-rail " is bolted, a " belly " k to which the extended front end of the soundboard f is glued being in turn bolted to the rail j. The frame 2 has stays q, r, s, and bosses h to receive the screw pins g. The wrestplank n is held between parts on side extensions l of the frame 2, and the frame 1, the frame 1 being flanged at p and also having positioning projections t. The key bottom is preferably screwed to the " belly rail."
