Abstract

311,144. Alexander, R. M., and Reed, A. July 11, 1928. Spray carburettors.-A carburettor is enclosed in a protective casing formed in three sections, the central section b being cast integrally with the mixing chamber g<1>, g<2> and float chamber e. The upper section forms an air inlet to the casing, and the lower section a sump. Within the mixing chamber is mounted a streamlined member f, an axial bore through which communicates with the float chamber by means of a vertical bore h and a duct m. A sleeve throttle valve g is adjustably mounted at n on a hollow rod i which passes through the bore in the member f and is provided with fuel outlet slots j. When the throttle is closed against the member f, fuel for slow running issues from the ends of the slots j nearest the outlet port g<3> and is mixed with air entering through the hollow rod. As the throttle is moved to the right, air enters the end g<1> of the mixing chamber to mix with fuel issuing from the right-hand end of the slots j.
