Spray carburettors. - The float chamber 2 is mounted above a horizontal mixing-chamber 3 and is provided with a coaxial nozzle system 20, 25, 26, the emulsion formed between fuel admitted through the orifices 30, 32, and air entering through the orifices 31, 33, passing through orifices 22 into the tube 20 which delivers at 21 into the choke tube C. The air inlets 31 may be replaced by a controllable orifice in the top of the tube 26. The tube 25 is held in position by the tube 26, which screws into the bottom of the float chamber, and is provided with a projection 27 which engages on flanges 28 on the tube 25. The fuel inlet pipe may be attached to either end of a horizontal channel 5 formed in the carburettor body and containing a filter 6, the other end of the channel being closed by a threaded plug. The semi-circular float 16 is connected by arms 17, pivoted at 18 to a bracket on the float chamber cover 19, to the fuel inlet valve 14. Mixture for slow-running is supplied through a conduit 35 opening into the mixture conduit 3 adjacent the throttle 4, fuel and air being respectively supplied to the conduit 35 through the calibrated orifice 37 and through the passage. 38. In a modification, the lid of the float chamber is held in position by a spring bearing against an enlarged head provided on the tube 26.
