Alternating-current induction machines. -A squirrel cage rotor is made in two or more portions each manufactured separately and subsequently assembled in such a way that each portion is electrically insulated from the others, the whole assembly having approximately the same axial length as that of the stator. Fig. 2 shows an internal rotor for a stator 1 consisting of two separate cage rotors 3, 4 with short-circuiting rings 5, 6 and 7, 8 joining two sets of cage bars 9, 10 which are not electrically connected. An external rotor for a central stator of the same axial length is also described, this rotor consisting of two independent coaxial cage rotors axially juxtaposed and not electrically interconnected.
