Abstract

Casings; coils and conductors.-In alternating- current and continuous-current motors, the end connectors of the rotor conductors are located outside the stator casing and the ends of the casing are closed by fixed annular extensions of the stator casing and rotating end plates which form a running joint with the fixed annular ex. tensions. Fig. 1 shows the rotor bars a3 and the end-connectors R of a squirrel-cage rotor. The rotor end plate E forms a running joint d1 with the extension D of the stator casing C; the end cover D is provided with arms d2 to carry the rotor bearings. The end-connectors are preferably a modified form of the end connectors described in Specification 13504/08. In a modification, Fig. 4, the end plate is in two parts E1, E, separated by insulation so that the annular partition E, may be made of high-resistance material and the current between the rotor bars limited to this portion of the end plate.
