Abstract

Operate doors by springs; checks.-In a door spring and check device comprising a piston check 9 and a closing spring 17 adapted to obviate any appreciable compression of the checking fluid until the door is nearly closed, an obturator 19 on the side of the piston opposite to the closing spring is adjustably a screw device 23, 24 fitted to the piston end 2 for moving the member 19 into an appropriate position. As the door closes under the action of the spring, the passage 20 through the check piston is engaged by the member 19 which prevents the passage of the check fluid through the passage 20 as the door reaches its nearly-closed position. This effect is made gradual by tapering the pin, as shown at 21. The cylinder 1 is mounted on the door and its piston 8 is connected by arms 13 to a pivot 14 rotatable in bracket arms 15 on the wall. In a modification, the member 19 is integral with the screwed member 24, which is adjustably mounted in the end 2 of the piston cylinder.
