Abstract

306,316. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Union Special Machine Co.). April 4, 1928. Sewing-machine frames.-A sewing-machine has a supporting frame 2, in which is mounted the main shaft 4, with a detachable needle head 8 and a detachable work-supporting arm 23. The frame 2 has a part 7 having lugs 12 to which the lugs 11 of the head 8 are secured by bolts 13, Fig. 3. The needle bar 14 is actuated by a link 18 detachably connected to the lever 17 on the shaft 19, in turn actuated from the crank 21 of the shaft 4 by the lever 20. The work supporting arm 23, Fig. 6, is secured to the frame 2 by bolts 24. The loopers 26 and feed dog 29 receive their motions in the known way from links 31, 35, 33, 27 operated by the main shaft 4, the links being detachable. The frame permits of the mounting of various kinds of needle heads and work arms to suit various kinds of work.
