Folding seats.-In a table, stool, or like article of the kind comprising a rigid top, seat, or like part with legs or equivalent members. hinged at its ends so as to be foldable under the top &c., strut members pivoted to the leg members are arranged so as to engage one another, and locking means are provided to hold them in position. The devices are made in sets comprising one or more, (for example, four), stools adapted to be packed into a traylike table top. The table shown in Fig. 1 consists of a top 11 with marginal flanges 12 and a longitudinal rib 13. The legs 14 are pivoted to brackets 17 so as to fold inside the flanges 12, one set of legs folding inside the other. The struts 20, 24 are V-shaped, and are pivoted at 21, 25; their apexes are secured by insertion in a groove 27, and by a fastening 30, and the struts bear one against the other. Stools are similarly constructed, except that the legs are. pivoted directly to the flanges 12, and one of the braces 16 is let into the legs 14 flush with their outside surfaces.. By this means four stools, suitably proportioned, may be stowed in the tray-like space formed by the underside of the table top 11 and parts 12, 13. The stools are held in place by the braces 16 of the folded legs, and they are secured by the hook 30 being engaged with a projection 32 on the brace 16.
