Abstract

301,105. Kensington, A. B. Aug. 25. 1927. Manures.-Poultrymanure is mixed with absorbent material, such as peat moss, and dried, under conditions which permit of free escape of moisture. An acid or acid salt which will neutralize ammonia may be added to the absorbent material. The product may be disintegrated and sifted. Suitable drying apparatus comprises an open trough 10 with charging hopper 14, screw conveyer 15 and discharging hopper 20, the trough being heated by waste steam or flue gases supplied to a jacket 11, as from a furnace 12.
