Abstract
296,413. Couade, M. Aug. 31, 1927, [Convention date]. Optical-projection apparatus. - In projectors wherein a reflector 2 behind the source of light 1 produces, with or without a condensing lens system 6, a beam having a large angle of convergence, and a diverging lens system is provided to convert the beam into one having a small angle of convergence, the diverging system comprises three separated lenses 8 - - 10, the lens 8 being divergent, and the lens 10 being placed against the projection aperture 3. The lens 8 produces an image 11 of the light source at or near the lens 9, and the lens 9 produces an image of the lens 8 near the lens 10. An aperture plate may be provided near the lens 8 and two images may be simultaneously projected, one in the plane of this aperture plate and the other at the aperture 3. The light source may ccnsist of a pastil of rare earth heated by an oxyacetylene &c. blowpipe in the optical axis and passing through the reflector, a sheet of mica &c. being placed between the source of light and the lens system to protect the lens system from the flame. Constructions wherein the diverging system comprises a single negative lens are described in the Specification.
