Abstract
295,848. Weber, I. E., Alcock, H. E., and Laporte, Ltd., B. Sept. 22, 1927. Phosphoric acid or a mixture containing phosphoric acid or acid phosphate or both, made by reacting a mineral phosphate with sulphuric acid in quantity at least sufficient to convert the phosphate into superphosphate, is heated to a temperature not less than 150‹ C. but below that at which pyrophosphoric acid is formed to destroy organic matter. For example, superphosphate may be heated at 150-200‹ C. and then leached with sulphuric acid to give phosphoric acid; or free phosphoric acid obtained by reacting rock phosphate with sulphuric acid, with or without separation of calcium sulphate, may be belted to like temperatures.
