Abstract

293,541. Brunton & Trier, Ltd., and Barnett, L. H. June 2, 1927. Vehicle lamps, directing.-In control mechanism for dipping head lamps on motor vehicles, a lever A, keyed to a horizontal shaft A<1> carrying the lamp and brought to the position shown by a counterweight, spring, &c., is normally locked by a pivoted plate D tilted by a spring plunger E, the inclined end D<2> of the plate having a wedging action on a pin A<2> and pressing the lever against an adjustable stop C. The lever is actuated by a Bowden or like tension member F<1> working in a tubular casing F, the end of which bears against a stop carried by a lug D<3> on the locking plate, the thrust transmitted by the casing when the cable is tensioned thus rocking the plate D to release the lever. The pivot D<1> is preferably mounted in a slot so as to be adjustable in the direction of the stop C.
