Abstract
292,107. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. June 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Transformers. - Relates to high tension transformers of the kind in which the high tension winding is surrounded by an insulating vessel containing an insulating medium such as oil, and consists in making the insulating vessel of such a form as to ensure that the core is also surrounded by oil. In the core type transformer shown, the high tension windings a concentrically surrounding the low tension windings k are surrounded by oil-containing insulating cylinders c mid-way along which the high tension terminals are located. The ends of the cylinders c communicate with metal containers q, p also containing oil, and slotted to prevent eddy currents, the slots being filled in with insulating material. In an alternative arrargement in which only one limb of the core is wound, a single insulating cylinder surrounding the whole of the core and windings is employed.
