Abstract
289,803. Pressed Steel Car Co., (Assign nees of Brinckerhoff, F. M.). May 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Couplings, axle-trucks used as; couplings, non- automatic.-Adevice for preventing the separation of the adjacent ends of two bodies of an articulated car comprises a continuous or endless member 9 co-operating with both of the body ends and consists. of either a single integral piece of material or a piece of material having its ends permanently or separately joined. The ends 1, 2 of two vehicles are provided with depending bearing portions 3 housed in a cup 6 supported on an axle truck 7 as described in Specification 287,487. The member 9 passes loosely around the adjacent portions 3 of both car bodies and is supported upon brackets 12 removably secured to curved webs 13 depending from the end portions of both car bodies. The brackets 12 on the end of one vehicle may be integral with the web 13 or all the brackets may be integral with the webs 13 in which case the member 9 which rests on them has its ends detachably connected by means of a bolt and nut. The member 9 may be encased in a curved tube 14.
