Abstract
289,273. Braren, L. K. June 7, 1927. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In engines of the type wherein the fuel is injected at or near the end of compression, the fuel nozzle 5 is located centrally in the head of the cylinder 2 and the combustion chamber 3, which may be formed in the piston 1 or in the cylinder head, is in the form of a torus, the annular flat space 4 formed between the face of the piston and the cylinder at the end of compression extending uninterruptedly into, and approximately tangentially to, the torus. Apertures 6 are provided in the nozzle tip through which compressed air is drawn into the fuel adjacent the spraying point.
