Composite paving blocks are formed of vertical or inclined layers a, b consisting of the same elastic material such as rubber, and with adjacent layers having different degrees of hardness. The edges of the layers are adapted to form the wearing surface of the road. The layers a, b may be mounted on a backing c, and be of different heights. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the layers in a block may be formed of various materials having different degrees of hardness, e.g. rubber and cement, rubber and fibro-cement, rubber and wood &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
