Abstract

286,019. Standley, G. A., and Platt, Ltd., S. Dec. 7, 1926. Metal - working presses.-In a press or like machine in which a frame a is reciprocated from a crank actuated member b through a slidable toothed gag d, the latter is urged to the right, Fig. 1, by an internal spring or by gravity k. To operate the head a, a lever p is swung about a pivot to remove a wedge member l from the end of the rod k. The spring then moves the gag until its teeth register with teeth on the member b. Upon release of the lever p a spring returns the wedge to normal position and the gag is restored to inoperative position on the upstroke of the machine.
