285,251. Lanston Monotype Corporation, Ltd., and Sterling, W. Feb. 15, 1927. Metal-pumps. - In pump-mechanism of the kind described in Specifications 8980/01 and 21014/07, a stepped, graduated, or variable gauge A, Fig. 4, is employed to limit the rise of the known rod H, that is connected through a. lever D to the pumpframe, whereby the stroke of the pump piston may be varied. The gauge may comprise a series of pivoted, separately movable plates a, Fig. 2, adapted to embrace the rod H. The spring B, Fig. 4. through which movement is transmitted from the actuating-rod N to the piston-operating lever C, is made more powerful than usual, and is adjustable by means of a hollow screw cap B', against which the upper end of the spring bears.
