Protective arrangements. - A gate end switch similar to that disclosed in Specification 262,553 is provided with a relay 110, the coil of which is in circuit with the power conductor 2. When the circuit breaker is open, an interlocking lever 112 holds the relay contacts open. As the circuit breaker closes the relay is released but is still held open by current flowing in the power conductor 2. When the pilot switch handle 60 is moved to the " off " position, should the circuit breaker remain closed, the power circuit is broken at the contacts 24, 23. 26, thus deenergizing the relay 110, which closes its contacts. A relay 7a thereupon opens and through other relays de-energizes the coil which holds the circuit breaker closed, the latter thereupon opening, In a modification, the existing relay 79 is used and is so interlocked with the circuit breaker that during the closing movement of the latter the relay is moved from the closed position to the open and then released. The circuit for the relay 7a is through auxiliary contacts on the circuit breaker and the existing contacts on the relay 79, The system is applicable to the control of a power supply having no earthed neutral point.
