Abstract
283,891. Junghans, O. Jan. 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes. - Relates to mechanical time fuzes of the kind in which a timing disc driven by clockworh during the flight of the shell is normally locked but is released by the of discharge. According to the invention, a lug c projects from the plane of the disc a and engages with a pin e on the fuze body, a hammer h provided in the fuze being adapted to move the lug out of locking engagement with the pin when the projectile is discharged. The lug c, in the construction shown, is formed by cutting and bending out a portion of the disc, the end of the lug being slotted. The hammet h is a weight secured to a spring f. which is attached at one end to the body d of the fuze. When the shell is discharged, the hammer h sets back and bends the lug c clear of the pin e, thus releasing the clockwork.
