Abstract

283,645. Petrie, F. B., and Petrie & McNaught, Ltd. Oct. 14, 1926. Sorting on inclined endless bands and on picking tables and the like; fixed sieves; rotary sieves. - Plant for separating dry town refuse comprises longitudinal bars b on to which the bulk of materials is placed and along which it is carried for sifting and hand-sorting by transverse bars c on a chain d, a rotary grading screen j which receives the material that passes through the bars b, an endless transversely-inclined travelling band o which receives part of the material passing through the screw and by which the soft vegetable material is separated from cinders, &c., and a common shoot k which receives the oversize materials from the bars b and screen j und the vegetable matter from the band o. A travelling band preferably receives the material discharged from the shoot f from the bars b and carries it over a magnetic pulley before passing it to the rotary screen.
