Abstract

10,802. Staniforth, C. G., and Timmins, T. B. May 7. Reciprocating sieves. -Two or more sieves D, I, reciprocated longitudinally by cranks or eccentrics on transverse shafts d, i, are arranged one above the other, each sieve except the bottom one having a platform or floor G beneath it, over which sweep travelling brushes F carried by endless chains so as to carry the throughs from the sieve above to the opening H leading to the upper end of the sieve next below. The exhaust fan B is located at the upper part of the casing, and the tailings from the sieves escape by shoots K, L. The material that passes through the bottom sieve falls into one or other of two conveyer troughs fitted with a hinged cover board. The travelling brushes also keep the undersides of the sieves clean.
