Abstract
281,523. Wade, C. F. March 28, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Air-heating furnaces.-For heating air by the waste gases in boiler flues longitudinally corrugated or finned metal tubes or ducts are arranged in the side flues to replace the usual refractory lining. Groups of ducts are cast in vertical sections and fitted together with provision for expansion at the vertical joints. The corrugations may be on the external surface only, as at B<1>, or on both external and internal surfaces as at B<2>. The upper surfaces of the external corrugations are steeply sloped to prevent lodgement of soot.
