Abstract
280,340. Parks, A. Oct. 11, 1926. Ball and float valves.-In ball and float valves in which the fulcrum of the float arm is adjustable to regulate the amount, of movement, necessary to close the valve and thereby the level at which the supply is shut off, a sliding valve 4 housed in a casing 1 is controlled by a float arm 7 having a cranked end which enters the casing and which is pivoted near such point of entry on a pin &c. 9 carried by a member encircling and slidable along a part solid with the valve inlet nozzle. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the slidable member comprises a collar 11 secured to the casing 1 by a screw stud 12 and formed with lugs 13a engaging the slot 6a through which the cranked end of the float arm passes to engage a slot 8 in the valve member 4. The valve casing is closed by an end cap 14. In an alternative form, the collar is extended to form an end cap. As shown in Fig. 4, the valve casing may comprise the slidably adjustable member being secured to the nozzle 3a of the inlet pipe by the screw stud 11a engaging a groove 3c therein.
