Abstract
280,240. Kissock, A. Nov. 6, 1926, [Convention date]. Molybdenum trioxide; calcium molybdate.- Molybdenum sulphide is roasted to produce the trioxide substantially free from sulphur, the trioxide is mixed with calcium oxide or a compound adapted to form calcium oxide under heat treatment, and the mixture heated to, say 1400‹F, to produce calcium molybdate. Preferably the process is carried out continuously in a multiple hearth ore roasting furnace of the gravity type, the sulphide being roasted on the upper hearths, whilst calcium hydrate is fed at the necessary speed to the lower hearths.
