Overhead sewing-machines; work guides. - A stocking guiding device for use with sewing- machines, more especially those of the scale-pan type, comprises a guide arm or plate 1 adapted for oscillatory and bodily movement relatively to a vertical axis 11, whereby the arm may be swung clear of the scale-pans 28 of the machine to receive work to be stitched. A spring may be provided to return the arm 1 to operative position. The guide arm 1 is mounted on a bracket 2 carried by a vertical rod 5 supported by a bracket 8 on a vertical rod 11 carried by a pedestal 12. Stop members integral with the bracket 8 engage adjustable stop pins on the bracket 2 to limit the endwise movement of the guide arm.
