Sheep, washing.-The process of the parent Specification, wherein wool to be washed travels continuously, without periodic stoppages for the cleansing of bowls, through a succession of bowls, each followed by squeeze rolls or the like, the wool being treated with suint liquor of a high concentration maintained substantially constant in one or more bowls by the suint supplied by the wool under treatment, is modified to be applicable also to live sheep, by carrying out the steps in bowls which require periodic emptying for cleansing and are not followed by squeeze rolls or the like, and by maintaining the concentrated bath or baths sufficiently clean either bv a purification other than by settlement, or by previous removal from the wool of the greater part of its impurities. Sheep are passed through progressively purer counter-current baths which are purified for re-use, fermentation being obviated by the use of substances as set forth in Specification 240,499, [Class 15 (i), Dyeing &c., Apparatus for].
