Dye preparations.-Preparations of dyestuffs or dyestuffs components for the dyeing or printing of cellulose esters, comprise dyestuffs &c. which are insoluble or soluble with difficulty in water and which are capable of dyeing cellulose esters, together with molasses. The manufacture of vat dyestuff preparations is excluded. The preparations are preferably made in concentrated form as pastes, or they may be transformed into solid products by evaporation in vacuo. Up to 30 per cent of the molasses may be replaced by sulphite cellulose liquor, and to the preparation may be added protective colloids and other substances useful in dyeing. Suitable initial materials are nitroarylamines or aminoanthraquinones. In examples, an aminoazobenzene press-cake is mixed with molasses and ground with a small quantity of water; molasses, saponin and dinitrodiphenvlamine are mixed together; a press-cake containing 1.4.5.8-tetra-aminoanthraquinone, molasses, sulphite cellulose liquor, and sodium dicresylphosphate are mixed together, and instead of the tetra-aminoanthraquinone there may be used other aminoanthraquinones or aminohydroxyanthraquinones or substitution derivatives thereof.
