Washing-machines with rotary receptacles.- Gearing for rotarily oscillating the shaft 25 of the clothes receptacle comprises a quadrant 51 rocked about its pivot 52 by a worm wheel 57 and meshing with a pinion 53 on the shaft. The pinion can be shifted by a lever 56 out of engagement with the quadrant and into engagement with a pinion 61 on the shaft of a friction disc 60 rotated by a wheel 35 on the motor shaft, so that the shaft 25 is continuously driven for hydro-extraction. The gearing is housed in a casing attached to the stationary cylinder 10 in which the receptacle rotates. The cylinder is carried by trunnions so that it can be swung either to a horizontal position during washing, or to a vertical position for hydro-extraction.
