Abstract

269,748. Perry, E. J. May 27, 1926. Washing-machines with rotary receptacles.- A reversible electric motor is selectively clutchable with gearing for oscillating the receptacle 5 within the stationary casing 1 or for swinging it bodily from the casing. To position the receptacle before swinging it, a brake, as described in Specification 268,176, may be manually set and automatically operated by the rotation of the receptacle itself. The receptacle is rotated in bearings carried by a. toothed quadrant 40 pivoted to the casing at 41. A lever 13<1> is linked to the brake and is manually actuated to release the brake and to close the motor circuit for rotating the receptacle, and is automatically operated through the linkage in the reverse direction to open the circuit on the application of the brake. A second lever 43 is provided to operate a clutch mechanism to disconnect the motor from the rotating means and to connect it to the gearwheel 59 meshing with the quadrant for swinging the receptacle. Switches 61 - - 63 control the motor during the swinging operation.
