Extrusion machines.-In pugmills for producing bricks with a core of cheap material and a casing of superior material, the core material is agitated by blades 8 and then delivered by the screw conveyer 6 through the die D. Vertical and horizontal screw conveyers 13. 15 respectively deliver the facing material into the space 16 surrounding three sides of the die D, and the combined column of clay is subjected to final pressure in the die 30. The brick produced is covered on one side and at both ends with the facing material. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 9039/87, 21913/00, and 19532/08.
