Abstract

263,240. Stubbs, Ltd., J., and Stubbs, J. H. Oct. 1, 1925. Skein holders and swifts.-The radially slidable arms 10 of a reel or swift for winding yarns are supported in slots 9 in flanges 8 secured to the hub 7, and are moved towards and away from the shaft 3 by rotating two side discs 5 angularly relative to the flanges 8. The inner ends of the arms 10 are connected to the adjacent discs 5 by links 17 and when fully extended each arm 10 and its links 17 lie on the same radial line. To collapse the swift, the discs 5 are moved angularly by means of the handle 20 and the links 17 and arms 10 assume the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. Holes are provided on the flange 8 into which a pin 21 on the handle 20 enters to secure the swift in any desired position.
