Abstract

Switches, quick-action, of the type wherein a rotatable contact-carrying shaft is placed under the influence of a spring tending to rotate it to bring the contacts out of engagement with fixed contacts, have the coiled spring b accommodated within the square section shaft a, one end of the spring being secured to a projection c' on the tumbler c having lost motion with the shaft, whereas the other end is secured to a pin e which is secured in the shaft by a split pin e<1>. The torsion of the spring is adjusted by removing the pin e' and screwing the pin e in a direction to tend to open the switch and irrespective of the position of the tumbler. In another form, the spring is secured at one end to the shaft and at the other to the casing, for instance, to a pin adjustably screwed in the casing and forming a bearing for the shaft.
